Sustainability at the Alte Rebschule
The feel-good hotel relies on a comprehensive sustainability concept
From solar power and sustainable materials to regional ingredients - the feel-good hotel Alte Rebschule is committed to sustainability with its concept. Even during the construction of the feel-good hotel, care was taken to use sustainable, local materials, to create compensation areas for sealing and to ensure an environmentally friendly construction method that blends into the landscape.
The sustainable concept naturally also includes the processing and use of seasonal and regional ingredients in the restaurant and in the Sesel Inn. Purchases are made from regional suppliers. Regional service providers are preferred. The feel-good hotel also relies on an environmentally friendly and chemical-saving cleaning system. It is also certified as a barrier-free establishment, including the large SPA Rebenmeer. Sustainability is part of the philosophy here.
Solar power
Photovoltaic system provides green electricity
A lot has already been invested in the feel-good hotel this year. This year, the feel-good hotel Alte Rebschule in Rhodt put its own photovoltaic system into operation. Over 400 square meters of solar cells were installed on the roof and now supply around 70 kWP of renewable electricity.
Ten years ago, the hotel put a combined heat and power plant into operation and generated its own environmentally friendly electricity. This covers around 30 percent of the electricity requirements and also supplies waste heat for the swimming pool, heating and service water.
Since the beginning of the year, the solar power system has provided the majority of the hotel's electricity. The remaining electricity requirements have been converted to 100% green electricity from hydroelectric power plants.
The Wohlfühlhotel Alte Rebschule is committed to sustainability in all areas and was awarded the TourCert Check seal for its commitment in 2020, making it an official partner company of the German Wine Route and supporting sustainable development in the region.
